Short Resume: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Silvia Trifonova is a lecturer at the Department of Finance of the University of National and World Economy (UNWE), Sofia. She has a wide experience in teaching, scientific research and practice in the field of Finance. As a university professor, Dr. Silvia Trifonova teaches the following academic subjects in the UNWE - “International Finance”, “International Financial Organizations”, “Banking”, “Bank Risk Management”, “European Monetary and Financial Integration” and “Monetary Theory and Monetary Policy”. She has also been giving lectures in Sofia Higher School of Insurance and Finance (VUZF University), Sofia. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Silvia Trifonova is a Chairperson of the General Assembly of the Faculty of Finance and Accounting at the UNWE. She was also a Vice-Dean on International Cooperation of the Faculty of Finance and Accounting. She was a founder and first director of the Joint Master’s Degree Programme of “European Business and Finance”, established between the Nottingham Trent University (NTU), United Kingdom and the UNWE, Sofia. During the period 2007-2013 Dr. Silvia Trifonova worked as a National Contact Point for the EU Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) for research and technological development (2007-2013), Specific Programme “Capacities”, Sub-division “Science in Society”. Dr. Silvia Trifonova has specialized as post-doctoral researcher and guest scientist in a number of leading foreign universities and research institutes, such as the University “Ecole Polytechnique”, Paris, France (1996), University of Athens, Athens, Greece (1998), University of Cambridge, Cambridge, United Kingdom (2000), Kiel Institute for World Economics, Kiel, Germany (2006) and so on. She has also visited the State University - Higher School of Economics, Moscow, Russia (2007), Nottingham Trent University, Nottingham, United Kingdom (2006), Yeditepe University, Istanbul, Turkey (2002), University of Nish, Nish, Serbia (2008), University of Economics, Prague, Czech Republic (2008), London Metropolitan University, London, UK (2009), University of Split, Split, Croatia (2014), and others. She has been a scholar of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Bulgaria, British Council in Bulgaria, Sofia, “Open Society” Foundation, Sofia, “Ecole Polytechnique” Foundation, Paris, France, “Atanas Burov” Foundation, Sofia and other. In 2001 she was nominated by “EVRIKA” Foundation for significant achievements in the fields of science for her Ph.D. thesis on “Currency Board Arrangement – Situation and Perspectives”. She actively participates in a number of international and national scientific research projects as well as in practical ones. She is a coordinator of scientific research projects on the problems of central banking, monetary policy, balance of payments, international finance, etc. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Silvia Trifonova has a wide practical experience in the financial sector. She worked at the Sofia Stock Exchange as an expert in the field of money and capital markets, Sofia (1994-1995), in the Caisse des Dеpots et Consignations, Department of economic and financial research, Paris, France (1996), in the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB), Banking Policy Directorate, “Payment Systems Oversight” Division (2003), Sofia, in “Puzzle Consulting” LTD, Sofia (2004), and others. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Silvia Trifonova is a member of the Editorial Board of Journal of Modern Accounting and Auditing (JFRA), Emerald Group Publishing Ltd., Emerald Accounting, Finance & Economics eJournals Collection, ISSN: 1985-2517).
