The 4th International Monetary and Economics Scientific Conference was held at the University of National and World Economy in Sofia. The two-day forum, organized by the Monetary and Economic Research Center (MRC) and the Department of Finance at UNWE, together with the Union of Economists in Bulgaria, was focused on "NEW REALITIES IN THE EU AND THE PLACE OF BALKAN COUNTRIES”. The forum was attended by representatives of the academic science from Bulgaria, Russia, Macedonia, France, Morocco, Georgia, Italy, UK, and others.

A special plenary session was organized – it was dedicated to 200th anniversary of Karl Marx's birth and his contribution to the political economy in the context of the contemporary concepts of the evolution of the role of money and capital under the conditions of the financialization of the global economy and the development of monetary and financial integration within the European Union.

This year MRC was happy to welcome the following internationally distinguished keynote speakers:

     Mikhail GOLOVNIN, Institute of Economics Russian Academy of Sciences, Russia

     Bruno THERET, CNRS - IRISSo Université Paris Dauphine PSL, France

     Cristian AZAIS, LISE, CNAM, France

The Conference was organized in several parallel sessions at topics like Banking, crises, currencies; International economics; Monetary and financial economics; Economic thought; International Experiences and others.

The Conference was a successful forum and gathered together more than 45 participants from 8 countries who presented 37 papers.
